Student Tutoring Available

Good morning Andrean Family,
I hope this email finds you well! Andrean's National Honor Society is excited to announce the start of peer tutoring for the Fall 2026 semester.
The peer tutoring program allows NHS students to earn service hours by tutoring peers in various subjects. This is a free service to help your students! If your student wishes to book tutoring appointments, please refer to the steps outlined below. Students have also received an email with these steps. To encourage student accountability and minimize issues with miscommunication, please ensure that it is your student sending the inquiry email! I know parents want what's best for their students, but it is much easier for our tutors to watch for Andrean email addresses.
How students can book appointments:
- Select the link for the Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17NL7jVc2O6po9b0ptDtFDrBZ8h0EGYB2PYgQx6d178Y/edit?tab=t.0
- Have your student read over the document and select the tutor they would like to meet with.
- Have your student copy and paste the tutor's email address from the document. They will need to reach out to the tutor (via email), requesting the date and subject they would like to be tutored in, as well as their RT.
- Allow the tutor a minimum of 24 hours to respond to the request. Once they confirm your student's appointment, it will be updated on the Google Doc to indicate that the spot is taken.
- Remind your student to see Mrs. Morales or Ms. Wyness (indicated in bold under the tutor's email address) before their appointment to get a pass.
If you have any further questions, please let Mrs. Morales know.
Freshmen Orientation and First Day Postponed
While the campus has power and remains ready to greet students to officially begin the 2026-27 school year, the impact of this week's storm is still impacting a large constituency of our families and staff. With this in mind and in the interest of safety and convenience, we are postponing Freshmen Orientation to Monday, August 17 and the First Day of School to Tuesday, August 18. We feel this modification gives families more time to address personal needs as well as allow NIPSCO crews to actualize their full-service restoration goal. A revised school calendar will be published as soon as updates are made and will be posted to the website and Niner News. Thank you for your flexibility, patience, and grace as we discern these decisions to best serve our school community. Stay Safe!
Back to School Dates
The new school year is just around the corner, and we’re excited to welcome our students, faculty, and families back to campus! Please take note of the important dates below as we prepare for a strong start to the 2026–2027 school year. Also, student and staff ID photos will be taken at a later date and shared in the next Niner News.
Freshman Orientation/Retreat
Monday, August 17 | 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Welcome, Class of 2030! Incoming freshmen will spend the day getting to know the Andrean community, receiving their Chromebooks, and meeting their teachers. Lunch will be provided. We can’t wait to meet our newest 59ers!
First Day of School
Tuesday, August 18 | 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
All students (Grades 9–12) return to campus for the first full day of classes.
Parent Walkabout

We want to invite all parents and guardians to the Parent Walkabout on Tuesday, August 25. Current families will have an opportunity to visit their students’ classes and meet their teachers.
Updated Start of the School Year
Dear Andrean Family,
While we remain prepared to welcome our students for the 2026/2027 school year, it is clear that the impact of yesterday’s storm continues to affect many families and staff throughout our community.
Given these circumstances, Andrean has decided to postpone Freshmen Orientation and Retreat until Friday, August 14, at 8 AM. As a result, the first day of school for all students will now be Monday, August 17.
We recognize that this is another adjustment to the school calendar, but the safety and well-being of our students, families, and staff must take precedence. We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we navigate these circumstances together.
We look forward to welcoming the entire Andrean Family back to campus on Friday and beginning the 2026/2027 school year together on Monday.
Niner Nation, we are ready to welcome you home.
Andrean Family Volunteer Call Out

Dear Andrean Family,
We are reaching out with a special call-out for parents, students, and alumni to help us unload and place classroom furniture on Tuesday, July 28, in preparation for the new school year.
We will have three volunteer waves available at 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11:00 AM. Volunteers may park in the Stracks parking lot (tailgate area) and will then be directed to the appropriate door for unloading and classroom placement. While most of campus will still be closed off, we will organize a clear path to help volunteers safely and efficiently assist with this work.
This effort carries special meaning for our community. Just as parents and students helped with furniture delivery and placement when Andrean first opened in 1959, we are inspired to offer this same act of symmetry for the next chapter in Andrean’s history.
If you are able to help, RSVP so we can plan accordingly and assign volunteers to the appropriate time wave. RSVP at https://forms.gle/L8qkrwpN6DXTQKGd7
Please note that volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes. Also, due to the ongoing work on campus, there will be no opportunity to visit any other areas except the designated path to and from classrooms.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to support Andrean. We are grateful for your help and look forward to working together as we prepare for the year ahead.
Go Niners!
