A Culture of Excellence

Andrean students raised the bar during the 2021 - 2022 school year. Through faith, learning, leadership, and service, our students have achieved independently and as a team. Below are some of the ways our students have embodied excellence over the year:

  • Andrean’s Hayley Antczak received a perfect score on her ACTs. Although many Andrean seniors achieve high marks on the ACT, it is very rare to accomplish the highest possible score. She will also attend Stanford University in the fall.
  • The Andrean Theatre Co. placed second at Regionals and qualified for State finals. This is the first time the troupe has attended since 2018.
    • At Regionals, Eileen Shea and Bri Loza received an award for Outstanding Scenic Design, Zoe Irving won an award for Best Supporting Actress, and The Company of "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" won an award for Best Ensemble.
  • The Andrean Spell Bowl team placed first in their class at the DAC Invitational. The team also qualified for the Indiana State Competition at Purdue University.
  • Nico Tovar, a senior, is a semi-finalist for the Porter County Foundation Lilly Scholarship and he was selected through an interview process by their board.  This scholarship awarded him tuition for his collegiate education.
  • Peter Clements was named a National Merit Scholarship Winner. The  National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recognizes and honors the academically talented students of the United States.
  • Kaleb Snyder and Nicole Mobley were winners of the Buns Care Charity Scholarship. This is an annual award that presents modest scholarships to academically achieving students.
  • Dario Anaya received a full ride to NYU.
  • Hayley Antzack, Isabella Cuadra, and Maria Trujillo received the National Hispanic Recognition Scholar from College Board
  • Amaria Lewis received the National African American Recognition Scholar from College Board.

  • Andrean varsity football won the Class 2A State Championship title against Evansville Mater Dei on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
  • In its 37th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade Player of the Year announced Drayk Bowen of Andrean High School was the 2021-22 Gatorade Indiana Football Player of the Year. Bowen is the first Gatorade Indiana Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Andrean High School.

  • Andrean senior Maddie Kmetz set a new record for assists (2,500) in volleyball program history.
  • Senior Nicole Cespedes ran the Cross Country Semi-State finals.
  • Andrean girl's varsity soccer team came in second at the State Championship.
  • The varsity boys tennis team earned their first Sectional title since 2012.
  • The Boys Varsity Baseball won 3A State Championship in June 2022. This marked the 3rd State Title Andrean won during the school year.
  • The Girls Varsity Tennis qualified for Sectionals.

  • Annually, Andrean's National Honor Society members participate in a community engagement project to support breast cancer research and treatment. NHS members design and sell sweatshirts in which the proceeds are donated to the Franciscan Health Breast Care Center. The "Stronger Together" sweatshirt was a huge success and Andrean's NHS was able to donate $1,900
  • During Andrean's December service project, the Theology department partnered with Adopt A Family through Catholic Charities. With the help of students (and their families), Andrean was able to provide gifts to 20 families or 75 total people.
  • Further service was given by the AHS National Honor Society, who wrapped all the gifts; the volleyball team, who donated all the wrapping paper; and the girl's basketball, softball, and baseball teams, who all adopted a family.
  • Thanks to supporters of Andrean, our Giving Tuesday campaign was a sweeping success in 2021. All donations were matched (by a generous donor) and Andrean was able to double last year’s student scholarship gifts.
  • The 25th Annual Andrean Golf Classic set a record with the number of attendees from alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of Andrean.
  • The 5/9 Day of Giving initiative surpassed its goal and earned more than $50,000. The funds from this campaign go to all Andrean funds benefiting Students and Staff.
  • Andrean hosts regular all-school Masses for students and faculty. Mass is usually celebrated by our school Chaplin, Fr. Jacob, however, on November 30, 2021, we were joined by Bishop McClory for the feast of St. Andrew.
  • Andrean students joined Father Jacob for a special Marian-themed Stations of the Cross at the Shrine of Christ’s Passion in Saint John, Indiana
